Prof. Sanjay Ranka
Dr. Sanjay Ranka is a Distinguished Professor at University of Florida in the Department of Computer Information Science and Engineering. His current research interests are machine learning, artificial intelligence and high performance computing with application to intelligent transportation, health care and scientific computing.
Prof. Ranka completed his B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1985 and subsequently went on to complete his PhD from the University of Minnesota in 1988. He started his career in academia as an Assistant Professor at Syracuse University in 1988 where he developed Fortran 90D compiler. He was a Visiting Scientist at IBM TJ Watson Research in 1991. In 1999, Prof. Ranka worked as a CTO/Chief Scientist and Co-founder at Paramark Inc. where he developed real-time optimization technologies to improve the performance of marketing campaigns in interactive media.
Prof. Ranka is a fellow of the IEEE, AAAS and AAIA (Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association) and a past member of IFIP Committee on System Modeling and Optimization. He won the 2020 Research Impact Award from IEEE Technical Committee on Cloud Computing. He is an associate editor-in-chief of the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing and an associate editor for ACM Computing Surveys, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Sustainable Computing: Systems and Informatics, Knowledge and Information Systems, and International Journal of Computing.
