Applications are invited for the post of one Junior Research Fellow under an industry-sponsored project, entitled “Development of hydrophobic corrosion inhibitor MOF-epoxy for turbine blades coatings” under the supervision of Dr. Prakash Chandra Mondal, Department of Chemistry, IIT Kanpur,

Desirable Qualification and Experience: (i) M.Sc. Chemistry/Organic Chemistry/Inorganic Chemistry from a reputed University/Institute in India with 1st class and relevant experience, (ii) Valid NET (LS)/GATE score.

  • Strong knowledge of organic synthesis, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)
  • Strong knowledge in the characterization of organic molecules (1H, 13C NMR, HR-Mass, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy).
  • Characterization of hydrophobic MOFs (Contact angle, FE-SEM, BET, XPS, PXRD, Single Crystal x-ray diffraction)
  • MOFs-based thin films preparation and characterization via surface analysis techniques.
  • Basic understanding of electrochemical analysis.
  • This project requires field work at the THDCIL plant, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. So, the fellow needs to travel to the plant. 

Nature of work

  • Synthesis of organic molecules, and preparation of MOFs.
  • Handling characterization instruments related to the project.
  • Preparation of MOFs-based epoxy to be tested as corrosion inhibitors.
  • Electrical characterization of MOFs-based electronic devices (current-voltage analysis)

Salary: Rs. 37,000 + Rs. 6,660 18% HRA. Total: 43,660/- (per month)

Term of Appointment: The appointment will be purely on a temporary and contractual basis with a duration of 2 years (based on the availability of the funds from the THDCIL).
