The role: We are looking for up to 1 outstanding JRF to join the dynamic Prof. Tripathi's Group (http://home.iitk.ac.in/~snt/) with in Civil Engineering Department. The post is available for a period of five years. The position is part of the project that is of great national importance with international collaborations and is funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and Intel. The project aims to guide the policy makers and citizens by providing them air quality information at a very low-cost. This project is developed after recognizing the importance of developing online River Water and Air Quality Monitoring (WAQM) systems. The program is administered through the bi-national Indo-U.S. Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF).

Successful applicant will work closely with national and international collaborators and is expected to develop innovative approaches towards handling large data sets. The results should be presented at national and international meetings as well as published in high-impact publications. Additional experience in handling large set of data, field experiment environmental sensing/measurement is important. Applicants worked with sensor development will be desirable. He/she must have the ability to work collaboratively yet independently. Must have strong computing skills and familiar with atmospheric models.

Selection criteria Applicant applying for the post should have B.Tech in Civil Engineering/Environmental Engineering/Mechanical Engineering with NET/GATE. Candidates with M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences with NET/GATE are also eligible. He/she will get the opportunity to work in a conducive environment and can avail the hostel/family accommodation facility at IITK.
