Applications are invited for one position of Senior Project Associate, initially for a period of one year (extendable depending on the performance) in the DST sponsored project DST/CE/2019123 entitled "National Centre in Geodesy" at IIT Kanpur. Description about this position is given below:

Senior Project Associate

Duration: Initially for one year; may be extended further depending on performance.

Number of Positions: One

Minimum Academic Qualification: MTech/ MSc (Physics / Mathematics / Earth Science/ Geoinformatics)
OR
One year experience of research after BTech/ MSc (Mathematics/Physics/Earth Science).

Desirable: Candidate MUST have basic understanding of Geodetic science and should be familiar with use of different geodetic instruments and software. Good mathematical skills programming proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. MATLAB, C/C++, Python, FORTRAN) is necessary. In addition, the candidate MUST possess excellent writing and communication skills.

Nature of job: Extensive field work using GNSS receiver, digital level, total station, terrestrial laser scanner, Gravimeter, etc. for ground based geodetic surveys in different parts of India. Further, the candidate must hold the responsibility for routine processing of datasets from GNSS and other sensors. The candidate would be responsible for preparing project reports, inviting quotations for equipment / software procurement, communicating with national and international domain experts and with participants in various activities of the Centre, preparing course contents for short term courses / workshops / conferences. The candidate may also be required to assist in developing routine programs for regular data processing, archival, analysis and sharing of datasets from multiple geodetic sensors.

Salary: Rs. 21600-1800-54000 + 16% HRA as per Institute norms
