Applications are invited for a position of Project Associate-I in a STC sponsored project at the Department of Space, Planetary & Astronomical Sciences & Engineering, IIT Kanpur.
We are seeking a talented individual with expertise in Optics and Python programming to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will contribute to cutting-edge projects in optical design, simulations, instrumentation development, leveraging Python for data analysis, algorithm development, and system integration.
The project is to build a compact seeing monitor based on the principles of the Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor. The task involved are:
- Validate the performance of the compact seeing monitor through numerical simulations and laboratory testing to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Demonstrate the on-sky performance of the compact seeing monitor through field tests at IIT Kanpur and later at an astronomical observing site.
Duration: 1+1 year
Name of the Post: Project Associate-I
Salary: INR 37,000 (per month consolidated)
Minimum Qualification: Master’s degree in physics or bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology with at least 60% marks from a recognized University or equivalent. Candidates with qualified JRF are encouraged to apply.
Desirable Skillset:
- Proficiency in Python programming, with a focus on scientific or engineering applications.
- Strong foundational knowledge in optics, including concepts and practical applications.
- Excellent communication skills, including effective presentation delivery and thorough report preparation.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive collaboration in a team-oriented environment.
