ONE research position is available
for Project Associate in a project titled "Paleo-seismic
and Paleo-tsunami Investigations along South-Middle Andaman &
Car Nicobar Islands towards Earthquake & Tsunami Hazard Assessment
of A & N Islands" for a Period of One year.
The period may be extended based on performance and requirement.
Project is sponsored by Indian National Centre For Ocean Information
Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad, Ministry of Earth Sciences.
Salary: Rs. 15000-1500-30000 (Salary
will be fixed depending upon qualification and experience).
Duration: Total duration of the
project 5 years.
Essential Qualification: M. Tech/M.
Sc. in Earth Sciences or Geophysics/M. Sc. Applied Geology/M. Sc.
Chemistry. + Research Experience.
Nature of Job: The project work
will involve fieldwork in Andaman and Nicobar Islands to undertake
identification and mapping tectonically uplifted landforms along
the coastline - for reconstructing the active tectonic history along
Andaman Islands. To establish the stratigraphy record of paleo-tsunami
deposits, identification of paleo-earthquake evidences preserved
in sediment succession by coring and trenching, to reconstruct the
chronology of the historic/pre-historic tsunami events and to understand
the recurrence of tsunamis/large magnitude earthquakes in the region.
Along with this the responsibilities will be to support in our geochemical
lab for OSL dating.
Desirable: Candidate having experience
in Geochemistry and OSL dating lab along with knowledge in Remote
Sensing/GIS will be preferred. (Candidates with Ph. D will be preferable)
