Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is a technological institution of national importance for Education and Research and Student Activities. Ever since its inception in the 1960s, IIT Kanpur has always held a leading position for excellence in technical education and training. With the start of the new millennium, IIT Kanpur would like to achieve a leading position in the areas of basic and applied research, both at the national and international levels. The Students Affairs is committed to providing all necessary help to achieve this mission.

As a Dean of Students' Affairs, Professor A. R. Harish is responsible for all facets of student life at IIT Kanpur. He is dedicated towards inculcating not only a healthy relationship between the Students and the Faculty/Staff of IIT Kanpur but also nurturing the students so that they develop an all round personality and become responsible citizens of INDIA. It is his desire that the IITK students become ICONS in their respective disciplines.
