Events

This occasion marks the first contact point between freshers and the club. Interested freshers give a small audition to join the Fine Arts team and participate in the freshers' night, although the club welcomes anyone who is enthusiastic. This provides a platform for the freshers' batch to learn from their seniors and show their talent in front of the campus community. Freshers are also trained to perform live on stage before a massive crowd. Stage performances mainly include Sand Art and Speed Art. However, the most iconic aspect of Freshers' Nite is the wall painting. Two large walls are painted with beautifully themed pictures by the newcomers under the guidance of the seniors of the club.

Antaragni is the Cultural Festival of IIT Kanpur and is one of the best college-fests in the country. Fine arts Club plays a very active role in the fest. The FAC exhibition that showcases some of the best artworks made by the students, serves as one of the major attractions of the festival. As a part of Antaragni, wall paintings are also made by FAC on the theme of the festival. The club actively participates in all the fine arts competitions which provides excellent exposure to the members.

Galaxy is the inter-pool cultural competition of IIT Kanpur. It is one of the five events that constitute the General Championship (GC) held between pools and is perhaps the most coveted and engaging of all competitions. It bears witness to an eruption of cultural flair and exuberance. Galaxy brings along a surge of enthusiasm accompanied by sleepless nights spent practicing the performances to perfection. The past has seen amazing performances that can top even the national level championships. Galaxy has redefined perfection countless times in its history, cries of joy have echoed in the campus and benchmarks have been set for the future. Fine Arts Club decides the rules for the fine arts competitions and it becomes a fierce war between the artists of the four pools. The Fine arts trophy was won by Mughals for a hat-trick 3 times from 2014 to 2016, although the Mauryans have claimed it on the most recent occasion i.e. in 2017. The fine arts competitions often include Backdrop, Oil Painting, Wall/street painting, Speed Art, Live Sketching, Caricature, etc.

ArtFest is the annual flagship event organized by Fine Arts Club. The campus witnessed the inaugural edition of ArtFest in 2015 with the theme - Pixel. The purpose of the event is to bring art out of the club room and on to the streets to make it engaging for all. As a part of the 'festivities', several installations are made on the theme and placed at popular spots across the campus with the idea of making art interactive. The ArtFest exhibition has the trademark of only showcasing the newest artworks that have never been exhibited earlier. ArtFest also spreads its wings into the digital domain, where through social media and youtube videos, the campus community gets involved. The finale of ArtFest constitutes of live stage performances which witnesses active participation from both older and newer members of the club.
