MBA Admissions FAQ

 

1) What degree is being offered by DIME?

The degree being offered is “Master of Business Administration” by Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

 

2) Are there any criteria for sectional cutoff as well?

No, there isn’t any such criteria.

 

3) Do we get a speciapzed MBA degree or a general management MBA degree?

It is a general management program and the same would be written on the degree. Although, students are offered a variety of courses from different domains which they can take from 2nd semester.

 

4) What is the faculty to student ratio at DIME for MBA program?

Currently the faculty to student ratio is 1:3

 

5) Does the college provide any assistance in securing a loan for the fees?

There are 2 banks State bank of India and Union Bank of India inside the campus. They provide loan facilities to the students. One can directly contact them to avail loan facilities.

 

6) What is the maximum batch size?

There is no upper limit on the size of the batch. With increase in faculty members, the size of the batch keeps on increasing.

DIME is currently functioning with 25 faculty members from various specializations in Management. The batch strength is determined based on the final pool of suitable students enrolling for the programme.

 

7) Is the MBA program offered by DIME only available for Engineering students?

No. The eligible students are as follows:

*B. Tech. or B.E. or B. Arch. (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in Class XII), or

*four year degree program leading to B. Sc. Engineering (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program),

or

*four year degree program leading to Bachelor of Science degree (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program),

or

*Master of Science (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program),

or

*Master of Arts in Economics (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program),

[*With aggregate of 60% or a CPI of 6.0 on a scale of 10 from any AICTE recognized institute/university, IITs, NITs, and IIITs (for GEN/OBC(NCL)/EWS candidates)

& With aggregate of 50% or a CPI of 5.0 on a scale of 10 from any AICTE recognized institute/university, IITs, NITs, and IIITs (for SC/ST/DAP candidates)]

 

8) I have a CGPA out of 10 but not percentage as final score. Should I convert my CGPA into percentage and fill it in?

No, only if your university provides the conversion formula from CGPA to Percentage then you may fill in. Otherwise please fill your CGPA only.

 

9) How do I prepare for the PI?

The candidates will be evaluated in terms of their academic aptitude, business acumen, communication skills, and interpersonal abilities.

 

10) What is the fee for MBA at IIT Kanpur?

11) Is a hostel facility available for DIME students?

Yes, hostel facility is available. By default, you shall be granted a hostel room when the program starts.

 

12) What is the candidate selection process?

The candidates will be selected for the final offer on multiple criteria and a composite score arrived at through the following weights assigned to each of the criteria:

 

1. CAT 2022 score (overall)     20%

2. Academic background     20%

3. Work experience     10%

4. Group discussion     20%

5. Personal interview     30%

*Additionally, to ensure gender diversity, the composite scores secured by the female candidates will be inflated by 5% (i.e., multiplied by 1.05). Note that the benefit would be higher if one has higher composite score, and it would never exceed 5, i.e., Final score = 1.05 X Composite Score (for female applicants).

However, Final score = Composite Score for all other applicants.
