In this elegant racket game, the objective is to hit the shuttlecock over the
net so that it lands inside the opponents' half of the playing court before the
opponent can return it. The definition of the opponents' half changes from
singles to doubles events. Badminton needs flexible wrists, supple bodies and
quick movements.
Venue: Badminton Courts (Indoor Gymnasium)
Teams:
- There will be singles and doubles tournaments for both men
and women, and a mixed doubles tournament (one man and one woman in
each team).
- No substitution is allowed.
Rules:
- Standard badminton rules apply.
- In singles, the playing area excludes the sidecourts but includes the
third court. In doubles the entire court is allowed, but serves must not land
in the third court.
- Please bring your own racquets for the matches.
- The first round will be a knock-out round consisting of one set of 15
points.
- Please be there (in the badminton court) 20 minutes before your scheduled
time so that if slots are available we can conduct your match earlier.
- Because of the huge participation we barely have time to conduct all the
matches. Therefore walkover rule will be followed strictly (given after
15 minutes of scheduled time).
- Please come to the court in sports kit. Formal trousers, shirts,
chappals and jeans will not be allowed.
- Decisions of the match referee/coordinator will be final.
- Finer points will be clarified on the court by the chair-umpire and the
organizers.
Anyone having any problem regarding the schedule should mail me (pprakash@)
beforehand. Queries after 12:00 noon will not be entertained.
