Bridge
Bridge is one of the most popular card games in the world, relying on
intelligent guesswork, memory and quick thinking. There are a lot of rules, so
make sure you're well prepared.
Venue: Mess Halls
Teams:
- Open to all -- just one category for both men and women.
- 2 players per team (North-South vs East-West).
- Registration is required, but if you turn up at the venue with a team,
we'll do our best to accommodate you if we have space.
Rules:
- The first round will be either rubber or duplicate bridge depending
on the response (most probably duplicate bridge).
- The format of the tournament (knockout or league) will be decided once
registration is over and we know how many teams are participating.

This certainly doesn't need any introduction in IITK! Register and extend
your wing playoffs to the insti level.

Rules:
-
First round will be on a knock-out basis: Two
teams will play for one-and-a-half hours (playing a minimum of 25 games) and
the winner of the majority of the games or the team that opens their red sheet
or the opponent's black sheet (whichever happens first) goes through to the
next round.
-
In case of wrong play, the opposition has the right to
take a victory if they want. If they claim “less than half” then the
coordinators will decide.
- The opener can claim for a redistribution of cards if he
has a pointless hand. But he cannot do so if he makes a bid.
- Reverse trump, no trump and “single” are allowed.
- In case of reverse trump, reverse will come into effect
as soon as it is opened and to win the hand one has to play a lower card than
the winner of the cards on the table.
- “All jacks” and “trump less” claims must
be made immediately before another hand has been played after this is in the
open.
- Pair can be shown for a bid above 18 points and is valid
after the trump is opened and the hand is made.
- If you bid 29, the sheet gets opened if you make the bid
or you lose three points if you cannot make the bid.
- If trump is not open till the end, the game is
cancelled.
- You cannot redouble after you’ve seen the seventh card.
- You can play single only if you have a minimum of one
loser.
- If you make all the hands on double you get three
points.
- A card cannot be taken back once it has touched
the table.
