In Tug-o-War, two teams pull opposite halves of a rope. Two lines are drawn on the ground, below the rope and at right angles to it, at a separation of a few feet. A marker is attached to the rope exactly halfway between the lines. Each team tries to pull the marker across the line nearer them.

• Men: 10 players per team
• Women: 10 players per team in a batchwise format -- one team each from:
  • Under UG
  • BTech./MSc.Int. Y0 and above
  • BTech./MSc.Int. Y1
  • BTech./MSc.Int. Y2
  • BTech./MSc.Int. Y3
  • BTech./MSc.Int. Y4
  • MTech/MSc./MBA Y3
  • MTech/MSc./MBA Y4
  • PhD + RA + all other PG's
  • any other batches if we're missing any
  To register, email a list of at least 10 members to arnika@iitk.ac.in.
• You may change your team before a match. However, no player who is registered in or has played for another team can play in your team.

Rules:

• There is no fixed schedule for Tug-of-War. The registered teams will be allowed to participate in this event. To see the list of registered teams, click .
• Matches will begin Wednesday, February 16, 6:30pm onwards. As teams come, we will pair them up and hold matches between them.
• No team which doesn't show up between 6:30pm and 10:00pm on Wednesday will be allowed to participate.
• The first round will be completed on Wednesday. Further rounds will be held on successive days.
• The matches will be best of three rounds. The team to win two rounds will win the match and proceed to the next round.
• 10 members must compete from each team.
• You may be barefoot while competing. No form of spikes and/or studs will be permitted as footwear
• You may not use any type of powder (choona) to aid your grip on the rope.
