Qualifications (for all positions): Ph.D., with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record throughout.

In addition, for

Professor: 10 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor.
Associate Professor: 8 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor.
Assistant Professor: 3 years teaching/research/industrial experience.

For Indian Nationals Residing Abroad:

1. Indian nationals residing abroad may apply on plain paper giving details of date of birth, educational qualifications, relevant experience and achievements, list of publications and research plans, alongwith names and addresses of three referees.

2. The pay carries all other allowances as admissible to a Central Government employee stationed at Kanpur.

 

Academic reimbursements and other incentives

1. Initiation grant up to a maximum limit of Rs. 10.0 lakhs for carrying out research

projects.

2. Full funding for attending national conferences either for presenting a paper or

chairing a session as per Institute guidelines.

3. Reimbursement of 75% of annual membership fee of an international professional society.

4. Financial assistance up to Rs.1.00 lakh once in 3 years for attending

International conferences either for presenting a paper or chairing a session.

5. Reimbursement of telephone charges up to Rs.750 per month.

6. Reimbursement of relocation charges (upto Rs. 90,000) from abroad to India at the time of their joining.

Accommodation

IIT Kanpur boasts of excellent housing facilities. Suitable residential accommodation as per rules will be provided on the Campus of the Institute on joining the Institute.
