Anglabharti Mission: English to Indian Languages Translation Using IIT Kanpur Technology
Under Anglabharti Mission a Workshop on "Design of Machine
Aided Translation Systems for Translation from English to Indian Languages"
was conducted at IIT Kanpur from March 29-31, 2004. Participants from different
centres attended this workshop to get familiarized with this technology and
procure technical know-how from IIT Kanpur. IIT Guwahati will be working on
Asamiya & Manipuri and will be developing Angla-Asamiya and Angla-Manipuri.
CDAC Kolkata will be developing Angla-Bangla, while CDACGIST group Pune will
develop Angla-Urdu, Angla-Sindhi and Angla-Kashmiri. CDAC Thiruananthpuram
will work on Angla-Malayalam, Whereas Angla-Punjabi will be developed by TIET
Patiala. IIT Mumbai will get this technology for development of Angla-Marathi
and Angla-Konkani. JNU New Delhi will work on development of Angla-Sanskrit
and Utkal University Bhuvaneshwar on development of Angla-Oriya translation
systems.
