NATIONAL SEMINAR ON COMBUSTION

The National Seminar on Combustion was jointly organized by the Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Kanpur and The Combustion Institute (Indian Section) on 8th November 2004 at IIT Kanpur. The basic aim of this seminar was to apprise the young students and scientists from academia, Industry and research organizations across the country about the recent developments in the field of combustion. Experts and scientists from various reputed institutes and organizations delivered lectures on various aspects of combustion like Solid Propellants, Ballistics and combustion by Professor B.N. Raghunandan and Dr. Charlie Ommen IISc, Bangalore, Combustion in High Speed Flow by Dr. J.J. Isaac, Propulsion Division, NAL, Bangalore, Combustion Generated Industrial Air Pollution by Dr. B. Sengupta, Member Secretary, CPCB, New Delhi, Modeling of Turbulent Spray by Dr. K. Ramanujachari, DRDL, Hyderabad, Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Engine Concept by Professor B.P. Pundir, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, Advances in Gas Fired Furnace Combustion Technology by Dr.D.P.Mishra, Aerospace Engineering, IIT Kanpur and Challenges in Aero-Gas Turbine combustor development by Dr.C.Badrinath, GTRE, Bangalore. The Seminar was inaugurated by Professor G.N. Mathur, Director, DMSRDE, DRDO. Professor Kripa Shanker, Deputy Director, IIT Kanpur presided over the function.
