Educational Tour of Delegates from Afghanistan

A high level delegation from Afghanistan accompanied by key official of Ed.CIL/MHRD/MEA and faculty members from six universities of Afghanistan has visited Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur on 7th of September for an educational study tour.

Their purpose to visit IIT Kanpur is to form collaboration with IIT Kanpur for gaining in depth understanding of higher education institutions of excellence in India. Discussions were made with Professor Kripa Shanker (Deputy Director), Professor Somenath Biswas (Dean of Faculty Affairs), Professor S C Srivastava (Dean of Research and Development), Professor Gautam Biswas (Dean of Academic Affairs), Professor Prawal Sinha (Dean of Students Affairs), Professor Sudhir K. Jain (Dean of Resource, Planning and Generation) and Mr. Mohammad Shakil (Assistant Registrar) on technical assistance, Students and Faculty exchange programmes and improving their educational system. The delegation also visited IIT Campus and Academic Area including Computer Centre and Library. Faculty members accompanying the delegation were drawn from Kabul, Nangrahar, Kandahar, Balkh, Herat universities and Kabul Polytechnic.

The delegation headed by Advisor to Afghan Minister of higher education Abdul Rahim Hussdnyan includes Vice-Chancellor of Kabul University Prof. Z Zahib and education specialist of World Bank Scherezad Latif.
