Mr. Rajeev Goel an Alumnus of IIT Kanpur, is the CEO of IPolicy networks and was currently visiting Institute campus has installed two high end IDS Systems to IIT Kanpur. The total cost of the two equipments is 25 Lac rupees.

On this occasion Dr. Sudhir Jain, Dean of Resource, Planning & Generation has extended his thanks to iPoicy Networks and expressed the need to develop a strong relationship between alumni and the Institute and to vigorously pursue private funding towards excellence at IIT Kanpur. Also Dr. Dheeraj Sanghi, Head, Computer Center has stated that IIT Kanpur has state of the art equipment running their networks which is also very tightly secure with the help of special hardware routers & firewalls. Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) are like a burglar alarm for your computer network they detect and prevent unauthorized access attempts. They are the first line of defense for any computer systems and hence are a very important part of the overall security of any organization. With the induction of these IPS systems IIT Kanpur Network will become one of the most secure academic networks in the country.
