IITK and GSVM have been around for about four decades. Both institutes have independently earned enormous respect in the fields of Technology and Engineering (IITK) and Clinical practices (GSVM). Realizing the need of cross talk between these diverse fields, Prof S. G. Dhande, Director IITK and Prof Katiyar, Dean and Principal GSVM Medical College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 10th , 2006 . This MOU will set the stage for collaboration between the two institutes on multiple fronts. In the field of education, they agreed to participate in each other's undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate education. They propose to jointly organize symposia, conferences, short courses, hold meetings on specific research topics, and carry out continuing education programs. They will distribute to each other information about their faculty, staff, facilities, research publications, library materials and educational resources of the other's institution. They propose to exchange information pertaining to developments in teaching, student development and research at each institution. In the field of research, they also propose to conduct joint research topics involving the expertise of faculty in both institutes. These efforts are likely to generate of research funds through multi-dimension collaborative research grant applications. These collaborations are likely to generate a world-class research and educational environment in IITK and GSVM.
