Advertisement for Junior Research Fellow
(JRF); Project Number: STC-EE-20120092.
Project: Model based subsurface tomographic soil characterization
Sponsor: ISRO
Requirements: M.E/M.Tech/M.Sc/B.E/B.Tech with demonstratable capability/inclination
in a subset of the following:
(a) Computational electromagnetics
(b) Numerical methods (especially for PDEs and Linear Algebra)
(c) Signal processing
Academically inclined candidates with a research potential and interest
in the above areas will be preferred.
Project Brief: Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is a commonly used
modality to "see" below the subsurface of the earth using
microwaves in the mega and giga-hertz range. GPR tomographic imaging
is the science of obtaining the electromagnetic parameters characterizing
a medium from scattered field data measured by a GPR. The present
project aims at the development of novel schemes to reconstruct
the unknown electrical properties of soil in a nonlinear GPR tomography
setting.
Emoluments: Rs 18000-2000-20000 per month (consolidated).
Duration: Project is for 2 years starting 25 July 2012; initial
appointment will be for at most 1 year.
Enquiries: Any enquiries about the above post may please be sent
to Dr Naren Naik (nnaik@iitk.ac.in).
Applications for the above post may please be submitted by both
e-mail and hard copy to Dr Naren Naik at the above address. Importantly,
in addition to basic academic details of the candidate, the application
must contain a statement reflecting compatibility of the candidate
with the project requirements stated above (in particular with respect
to any subset of the 3 areas of expertise listed above).
Last date of submitting applications: 20 September 2012.
