We have recently initiated an MHRD sponsored project titled “Scientifc study of Indian knowledge systems” at IIT Kanpur. The overall project consists of eight sub-projects involving more than twelve faculty members from various academic disciplines. The underlying ambition of each project is to investigate Indian knowledge systems within the context of modern science and technology.    

As a part of the initiative we would like to seek proposals, within the context of the overall project, to initiate work on new ideas as well as for developing courses in the relevant areas. This support should be viewed as a seed grant which is primarily to encourage new ideas. The budget of these proposals should be limited to around Rs. 2 Lakhs for one year. Outstanding proposals can behowever supported for maximum of Rs. 3 Lakhs and possibly for longer durations. The proposal should include an objective, a brief description of the project, deliverables, time-frame, and budget description. The proposals will be judged by a three member committee constituted by the SandHI coordinators.
