What if I submit my application ONLINE but you do not receive the hard copy application by the due date?

Ans. – It is advised that you submit your application well in advance therefore the hard copy also reaches us in time. Keep a copy of the application with you. We will contact you should we fail to receive the hard copy of the application and you will have to produce the Speed Post/Courier receipt demonstrating that your application was sent on or before the due date. Ensure that you provide us with a contact phone number and/or email which is functional.

 

I am also applying to other institutes. The dates of admission test in those places and BSBE department of IIT-Kanpur are clashing. What should I do?

Ans. - This is unfortunate but we have no control over the schedule of other institutes admission dates. Unfortunately, you will have to choose one place or the other.

 

BSBE admission test dates are clashing with my University/Institute examination dates.

Ans. This can happen and we are unable to help you with such situations.

 

Since I may have to stay overnight will I be provided accommodation?

Ans. - Accommodation, separately for boys and girls, will be arranged in our hostels. There will be cots in the rooms. However, you are requested to bring beds/bed sheets which may not be available in the rooms. You may plan reaching the institute one day before the scheduled screening test and depart a day after the final round of interview.

 

Will I be reimbursed for my travel expenses?

Ans. - Only candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories will be reimbursed for travel costs.

 

What are subjects for written test?

Ans. - Both for MTech and PhD admission, the written test will have elementary questions from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Also there will be a section on general topics testing analytical, quantitative and English language skills.

 

Will I be notified of the laboratory in which I will be able to conduct my PhD research?

Ans. - We try our best to accommodate the preference of the applicant and of the future PhD mentor.
