Dr. Amarjit Singh is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. He worked for several years in the construction industry and been a part of numerous projects in India, Nepal, Kuwait, and Canada.

He completed his BTech from IIT Delhi (India) and PhD from Purdue University (USA). He has wide interests including Applications of Operations Research, Automobile Energy Systems, Plasma Arc Gasification for Disposal of Municipal and Hazardous Wastes, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion, Mass Housing, Shoreline and Harbour Protection, Pavement Management, Construction Claims, Dispute Resolution, Law in Engineering and Construction, Project Management Behaviour, Construction Safety and Health, Life-Cycle Cost Analysis, Earned Value Analysis, Statistical Quality Control, Cost Estimating, Productivity Improvement, and Risk Analysis in Construction.


Dr. Singh is a Fellow and Life Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Institution of Engineers (India); Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (U.K.); Life Member of the Association for Advancement of Cost Engineers International as well as for the Society of Cost Estimating and Analysis. He has been awarded his university's highest teaching honour - the Board of Regents Excellence in Teaching Award and is also the recipient of ten best paper awards, including the Surendra Nath Mukherjee Memorial Prize awarded by the Institution of Engineers (India). He was awarded the prestigious Construction Management Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers, awarded to only one person per year, for innovation and research aimed at improving construction around the globe.
