A graduate from IIT Kanpur, Professor Sudhir Misra completed his Dr Engg from the University of Tokyo. He has also worked with consulting and construction companies in India and Japan. His research interests include quality control in concrete construction, construction management, durability-based design of concrete structures, specifications for concrete materials, nondestructive testing and evaluation of concrete structures; concrete materials and construction, deterioration and durability of concrete structures.
Professor Misra has been recognised for excellent teaching in several of the courses taught at IIT Kanpur, and has spearheaded the creation of a graduate program in Infrastructure Engineering and Management in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Kanpur addressing the need to create manpower with a wide outlook and formal exposure to subjects such as Infrastructure Asset Management, Financing of large projects, Quality and Safety in Construction and Construction methods, besides Project Management. He has also offered five courses on the National Programme for Technology Enabled Learning (NPTEL) platform of the Government of India, four of them under the Massive Open Online Courses initiative.
