CDIS is working on a project which affects the gaming industry. The project focuses on using cognitive science principles to classify online games accurately by distinguishing between skill and chance, aiming to clarify legal uncertainties and promote stability in the gaming industry.
Instead of philosophy or simulations, principles of learning, expertise, and skill acquisition from cognitive science are used
Ability to predict future winnings from performance history
Ability to predict if a player’s skill can progress
This project has tested the aforementioned pipeline on data from over 10 million players across more than 25 games. Implementing evidence-based regulations can provide significant economic benefits, stabilizing the online gaming industry which generates annual revenues of approximately 25,000 crore.
