MINOR Programs in the Department of Chemistry

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY: MINOR PROGRAM (NEW ARC)

The Department of Chemistry is proposing three minor programs as listed below. Total credits for minor in any of the following three is 4 x 9 credits = 36 credits. Maximum number of students: A total of 6 students (for the entire department; i.e. for the three minors).

  1. MINOR IN INORGANIC CHEMISTRY

    Prerequisites: CHM101 A, CHM102 A
    Basket of courses: any 4 courses from the following basket. The basket contains two department core courses, and selected electives:
    CHM345A, CHM342A, CHM616, CHM631, CHM646, CHM647, CHM 648, CHM651,
    CHM654, CHM668, CHM691

  2. MINOR IN INORGANIC CHEMISTRY

    Prerequisites: CHM101A, CHM102A Basket of courses: All the four courses are compulsory (a total 4 courses). Compulsory courses: CHM203A, CHM202A, CHM301A, CHM302A

  3. MINOR IN PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY

    Prerequisites: CHM101 A, CHM102 A, CSO202A
    Basket of courses: any 4 courses from the following basket. The basket contains two department core courses, and selected electives:
    CHM321A, CHM322A, CHM621, CHM622, CHM626, CHM636, CHM637, CHM650, CHM664, CHM679, CHM685, CHM689, CHM695, CHM696, CHM699

How to apply for the MINOR Programs in the Department of Chemistry

Selection Procedure:

  • The number of students taken from a batch will be 6, for the three minor programs put together.
  • If the number of students applying for these programs form a batch is more than 6, the selection will be done based on CPI.
  • In the event of a tie for the sixth position, the grade obtained in CHM102A will be considered.
  • In the unlikely event of a tie even after considering the grades obtained in CHM102A, the department will carry out an interview and the final decision is to be made by the DUGC.
