Applications are invited for the post in the Computer Centre, IIT Kanpur, in the Project titled " IIT Council Website & Digitization".
About the project: The work is related to the development of websites and databases.
Designation: Senior Project Engineer (01)
Salary Range: 32400-2700-81000
The appointments are purely temporary and contractual, and the duration of the contract is one year.
Senior Project Engineer:
B. Tech+ M.Tech +Ph.D. (Engg. Stream).
Or M.Tech + 3 years relevant exp.
Or B. Tech with M.B.A.+ 3 years relevant exp.
Desirable:
The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. A proactive approach to learning new technologies, sharing knowledge, and training others is highly valued. The candidate must have solid experience in server administration and database server maintenance, including tasks such as backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security hardening. Proficiency in Linux server environments is essential, along with familiarity in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, VirtualBox) and managing virtual machines and containers (e.g., Docker).
A strong understanding of web security principles is crucial, including securing web applications, managing firewalls, SSL/TLS, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and staying updated on emerging threats and vulnerabilities. Proficiency in DevOps practices, such as CI/CD implementation, automated deployments, infrastructure automation, and cloud platform management, is expected. Experience with system and application monitoring, as well as log analysis tools like SIEM or Splunk, is also desirable.
Development experience with the MEARN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular/React, Node.js) and familiarity with CMS platforms such as Drupal and Joomla are a plus. Strong command of PHP, JavaScript, CSS, Bootstrap, and front-end development is required, along with experience in plugin/module development, caching strategies, and implementing intelligent search tools like Apache Solr.
