Internships

Internships are a crucial step in a student’s professional journey, providing hands-on experience and a taste of real-world challenges. As an alumnus, you can play a pivotal role in facilitating these opportunities. By sharing your expertise and offering guidance, you can help students identify and secure valuable internship experiences. Your support can help bridge the gap between academic learning and professional application, preparing students for future success. Academic Contribution

You can give back to your alma mater by sharing your expertise, knowledge, and experience. We would like to benefit from your teaching skills, academic know-how, and potential collaboration opportunities.

Visiting Faculty

We welcome faculty members, scientists, and engineers from other academic institutions (except IITs) to join us as Visiting Faculty for short stints ranging from one to two months up to a maximum of two years. These positions, lasting 1-2 years, come with a remuneration package that matches our Institute's norms for Faculty roles (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor). The maximum consolidated salary for these positions is Rs. 50,000/-.

Adjunct Faculty

We invite scientists, engineers, and professionals from various organizations to contribute their expertise as Adjunct Faculty at IIT Kanpur. These positions, which can last from 1-3 years, allow individuals to spend a few days to a few weeks at a time on our campus. The compensation package includes paid travel, an honorarium of Rs. 2,000/- per day, and local hospitality.

Professors of Practice

Professors of Practice will teach, participate in academic and administrative activities, and promote industry-institute linkages. They will help students understand practical applications in their field.

Candidates need at least 15 years of managerial or professional experience, including 5 years in a senior role (e.g., CEO/CTO/VP/Director). A Master's degree in Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, or a related field is required; a Ph.D. is preferred but not essential if offset by deep field experience.
This is a contractual position on a regular scale, with benefits as per Institute norms. Appointments are made through a standing committee and are initially for three years, extendable based on performance up to the retirement age.

The availability of these positions is subject to approval by the respective departments and the Institute. The shortlisting process may take 3-6 months. While the DORA Office will facilitate this process, it ultimately depends on the internal procedures of the Institute and the availability of vacancies in the respective departments.
