Mr. Ajit S Gill (BT/EE/1969) is the CEO of Ohm Oncology, California, a company that specializes in oncology and neoplasms by developing novel drugs for the management of treatment - refractory and difficult to treat cancers. Mr. Gill has also served as the CEO & President of Nektar Therapeutics, and Vice-President and General Manager of Kodak's Interactive systems. After graduating from IITK, Mr. Gill earned his MS from University of Nebraska and MBA from University of Ontario, Canada.
Mr. Ajit S. Gill set up the Joy Gill Chair under Joy and Manmohan Gill Endowment Fund. The Chair position is for outstanding young investigators under the age of 45 years in any area of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering and can be occupied for a period of three years.
Prof. Arun Kumar Shukla, Department of Biological Sciences & Bioengineering, is a well-known name in the area of G Protein - Coupled Receptors (GPCR) and he heads the GPCR Laboratory at IITK. Prof. Shukla led a team of IITK scientists who developed nanomachines which could be designed to selectively target signalling events inside living cells. The technique developed by them is in use with several drugs that are available in the market such as Telmisartan, Olmesartan, Fexofenadine, Propanolol, and Metoprolol. Prof. Shukla has many awards & honors to his name. He is the Fellow of Welcome Trust-DBT, recipient of Swarna Jayanti Fellowship, The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian Science awards, for his contributions to Biosciences, in 2017-18.
