Scholarships: A number of student
Scholarships have been created by the Institute with the help of donations
received from its Alumni, former Faculty members, well wishers and friends,
Organizations and eminent Educationalists. These scholarships instill
motivation and enthusiasm in the students to excel in their academic endeavor
and also provide financial assistance to meritorious and needy students.
The existing UG student strength in the Institute is 3000 (approx). Out
of which 1000 (approx) students are getting different scholarships including
Government MCM scholarship and outside scholarships. Currently the Institute
has about 110 endowed Student Scholarships. Our aim is to provide scholarship
to at least 50% of student population, and we are currently short by about
500 scholarships.
Endowment
required for a named student scholarship: between Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 10
lakhs (provides a scholarship of between Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 per year)

Summer
Undergraduate Research Grant for Excellence Programme (SURGE)
provides opportunity to undergraduate students at IITK to spend
summers at some of the leading universities around the world as interns;
and conversely, IITK to host undergraduate students from these universities
during summers. Some of the universities we have exchange program with
are CalTech, Rice, U Texas A&M, Ecole Centrale Paris, and U of Melbourne.

Specific
Activities Fund has been created to support specific student
activities/Clubs of students Gymkhana.
Student
Emergency Fund: Last
year alumni, faculty and students had contributed generously to support
the treatment of one of our Research Scholar who was suffering from some
fatal disease. However, we could not save the life of the student despite
of the full financial support given to him for treatment. For supporting
such situations in future, a Student Emergency Fund has been created.
The Fund will be utilized for any emergency that occurs anytime to any
student in the Institute.
