Who is eligible to attend the reunion?
B.Tech and Dual Degree students who began in 1982, M.Tech and MSc (2-Year) students with roll numbers starting from 84, and PhD students who completed in 1986 are eligible.
How is the registration fee determined?
The fee depends on the number of attendees—more attendees mean lower cost. It’s finalized in consultation with the batch coordinator.
What are the modes of registration fee payment?
Credit card, debit card, Google Pay, and PayPal are accepted.
Is the registration fee refundable in case of cancellation?
No, but it can be transferred to another alumnus upon request.
How can the registration fee be transferred to another alumnus?

Is accommodation provided for alumni and their families?
Yes, rooms will be arranged at the Visitors’ Hostel and its facilities. Families get individual rooms. Allocation is managed by batch coordinators and Alumni Relations team.
Can I select a room in advance?
No, rooms will not be pre-allocated.
Is lodging arranged for car drivers?
Yes, in the VH dormitory on a shared basis. Meals may be available at hostel messes if requested in advance.
Is driver accommodation included in the registration fee?
No, it needs to be paid separately by the guest.
Are medical facilities available on campus?
Yes, at the Institute Health Centre. Emergency ambulance support is available if required.

Are transport arrangements available from Kanpur Station?
Yes, buses will be available from the railway station to the IITK campus at specific time slots. Details will be shared before the event.
Are transport arrangements available from Lucknow Airport?
Yes, based on requests. Please notify your arrival time in advance to arrange transportation from Lucknow Airport.
How many people can be accommodated in a room?
Each room typically accommodates 2 adults. Extra mattresses can be arranged on prior request for kids or elders.
Who should I contact for housekeeping requests?
For VH1, call 8171. For International Hostel (VH2), call 4990. Please ensure you're in the room while requesting.
Will bedding be provided in rooms?
Yes, bedding is provided in all rooms at the Visitor’s Hostel and International Hostel.
Will towels and toiletries be provided?
Towels will be provided. Basic toiletries like soap may be included, but it’s recommended to carry personal items.
Will hot water be available?
Yes, hot water is available in all rooms throughout the reunion period.
Can breakfast or lunch be arranged in the halls?
Yes, it can be arranged with prior notice. Coordinate with the alumni office or your batch coordinator for group bookings.
Are campus transport options available?
Yes, e-rickshaws and cabs are available on campus. Trips outside campus are chargeable.
Where can I buy essentials?
The campus shopping centre has general stores, a pharmacy, eateries, and stationery shops.
What is the checkout process?
Return your room key at the VH reception at the time of departure. Additional info will be shared in your welcome kit.
Where will accommodation be provided?
In Visitor’s Hostel (VH1) and International Hostel (VH2). Room numbers will be allotted at check-in.
What type of accommodation is available for families?
Double-bed rooms with options to add extra bedding. Inform in advance if needed for children or elders.
Will heating arrangements be available in rooms during winter?
Yes, all VH rooms are equipped with heat blowers or room heaters.
Can musical instruments be arranged?
Yes, musical instruments can be arranged based on availability. Please inform the alumni team in advance so arrangements can be made accordingly.
Can accommodation be arranged for external performers?
Yes, with prior intimation. Alumni inviting external artists are requested to sponsor their lodging at IITK campus guest houses.
Where are ATMs located on campus?
ATMs of SBI, ICICI, and Canara Bank are available near the shopping center and New SAC area on campus.
How can I find contact details of professors?
You may contact the Alumni Relations team who can coordinate faculty meetings upon request. Emailing your interest in advance is recommended.
What places should I explore on campus?
Don't miss the Library Lane, your department buildings (CSE, EE, ME), old halls of residence, and the newly developed Academic Blocks and New SAC.
Can I meet the Director or senior officials?
Yes, meetings are arranged depending on availability. The Alumni Relations team can help coordinate such interactions.
Can I explore Kanpur city during the reunion?
Yes, you are free to explore. Suggested spots: Z Square Mall, JK Temple, Ganga Barrage, Phool Bagh. Local transport can be arranged on request.
I want to celebrate a special occasion during the reunion. How can I plan it?
Please get in touch with the alumni team. We can assist in arranging cakes, AV displays, and small gatherings based on your needs.
Whom should I contact for groceries or medicines?
The campus shopping center has all essentials including a pharmacy. For urgent needs, you may also ask the front desk for assistance.
What recreational activities are available for families?
Indoor games, movie screenings, kids’ play zones, and informal bonding sessions are planned. Details will be shared in the reunion schedule.
How long is one glider ride and what are the timings?
Each ride lasts around 3–5 minutes. Timings are typically between 7 AM – 10 AM. Final schedule will be shared closer to the date.
Are glider rides first-come, first-served?
Yes, availability is limited. Registration for glider rides will open on Day 1 at the help desk. Early registration is recommended.
What is batch fundraising?
Batch fundraising is a collective effort where alumni from a particular batch come together to raise funds in support of their alma mater. It typically coincides with major reunion milestones.
Why is our batch raising funds now?
Your batch is celebrating a milestone reunion—an ideal time to reflect, reconnect, and give back. These contributions help support key initiatives at IIT Kanpur, such as student scholarships, infrastructure development, research, or supporting your Hall of Residence.
How are the funds used?
Your batch can choose to support:

All funds are utilized by IIT Kanpur as per the batch’s agreed campaign goals.
Can I pledge now and donate later?
Absolutely! You can make a pledge now and fulfill it over a period of time—up to 3 years. This helps us plan better and gives you flexibility.
Is my contribution tax-exempt?
Yes. All donations are eligible for 80G benefits in India (under the old tax regime) and tax
benefits in the US and other countries are as per country laws.

Can I make my donation in installments?

Will my name be recognized?
Yes, we honor all donors (unless they prefer to remain anonymous). Recognition may include name displays on donor walls, digital boards, and reunion brochures.

What if I pledged but can’t fulfill it right away?

What is the minimum or recommended amount for pledging?
There is no minimum amount. Every contribution counts.
How is progress tracked and shared with the batch?
We provide regular progress updates:
• Pledge totals and fulfillment status
• Participation rate
• Project updates (with photos/stories)
All shared via WhatsApp/email and showcased during the reunion.
Can I choose where my donation goes within the campus?
Yes, your batch collectively decides how the funds will be used.
How secure is my payment and personal information?
All transactions are processed via secure payment gateways. Your data is kept confidential.
What happens if the campaign exceeds its target?
Excess funds are used to extend the impact of the campaign—either by scaling up the original goal or supporting complementary needs decided in consultation with the batch.
When will I receive the tax (IT) receipt for my donation?
You will receive your 80G tax receipt within 4-5 working days of us receiving the donation.
For Indian donations, the receipt is emailed to your registered email ID.
For US donations, receipts are issued by the IITK Foundation.
Please make sure to enter your PAN while making the contribution from India. It is mandatory for
issuing a valid 80G receipt in India.
