Applications are invited for a temporary position of Assistant Project Manager (Lead Veterinarian) in a WT sponsored project at the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, IIT Kanpur.

Designation: Assistant Project Manager

(Lead Veterinarian)- (01)

Qualifications: -

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc.) and Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc.) from a recognized institution
  • Up to 2–3 years of post-qualification work experience, preferably in laboratory animal medicine or research facilities

Desired Skills and Interests: -

  • Demonstrated surgical skills, including peri-operative and post-operative animal care.
  • Familiarity with anaesthesia, analgesia, and veterinary care protocols for research animals.
  • Interest in neuroscience, brain function, and translational biomedical research
  • Willingness to work closely with interdisciplinary teams comprising neuroscientists, engineers, and clinicians.
  • Familiarity with CCSEA guidelines, animal welfare regulations, and ethical compliance.
  • Experience working with nonhuman primates (especially Rhesus macaques)

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Lead Veterinarian for the project.
  • Oversee clinical care, surgical procedures, and preventive healthcare for non-human primates.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, ethical, and welfare standards.
  • Coordinate veterinary support for neuroscience and biomedical research studies
  • Assist in training technical staff and maintaining standard operating procedures.

Salary Range (Emoluments): Rs. 30,000/- per month plus 18% House Rent Allowance (HRA), as per project norms

Tenure: Initially for one year, extendable up to up to five years based on performance and project continuation
