About the Project

The research project “Meeting the Challenge of Urban PHC Systems in India – A Learning Sites Approach”, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is implemented at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in collaboration with national and international partner institutions.

About the Position

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Project Manager to provide administrative and project management support for the above-mentioned research project. The position involves coordinating day-to-day project activities, supervising field-level operations, supporting financial and administrative processes, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the project team.
  • Coordinate and supervise field data collection activities, including scheduling, logistics, and monitoring of field teams.
  • Assist in the coordination of meetings, workshops, travel, and project events.
  • Support financial documentation, procurement, and record-keeping in line with institute and funding agency guidelines.
  • Maintain project files, databases, and correspondence.
  • Liaise with institute offices, field teams, and external partners as required.
  • Perform any other project-related administrative and field coordination tasks assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Essential Qualification

  • Postgraduate degree from a recognised institution
    OR
  • Graduate degree with a minimum of two years of relevant administrative or project management experience.

Desirable Skills

  • Prior experience in project administration or office management, preferably in an academic or research setting.
  • Experience in coordinating or supervising field data collection is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting, procurement, and documentation processes.
  • Good communication, organisational, and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and standard office software.

Salary

  • Pay scale: ₹16,000 – 1,300 – ₹38,000 (consolidated), commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Duration of Appointment

  • The post is purely temporary and contractual.
  • Appointment will be made initially for one year, with the possibility of extension subject to satisfactory performance and project requirements.
