Project Assistant Position in Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur

Applications are invited for one position of Project Assistant to join Dynamics and Control Laboratory, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur. The position will be purely contractual in nature.

The selected candidate will assist in:

1. Managing day-to-day lab activities
2. Performing routine basic prep for molecular biology and microbiology experiments
3. Maintaining lab inventory, reagent records, strain/plasmid records, and instrument logs
4. Assisting in procurement, quotations, bills, project files, and basic accounts-related documentation
5. Supporting experiments involving bacterial growth and protein-expression measurements

Minimum Academic Qualification

BSc in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Life Sciences with at least 6 months of laboratory experience

Or MSc in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Life Sciences

Or 3 years Diploma with at least 12 months of academic/research laboratory experience

Desirable Experience

1. Familiarity with basic molecular biology lab techniques: media and plate prep, plasmid isolation, transformation, gel electrophoresis, restriction digestion, media preparation, bacterial culture handling
2. Ability to handle Instruments: centrifuge, plate reader, incubator, autoclave, hot air oven, microscope
3. Record keeping: lab notebooks, stock registers, inventory sheets, purchase records
4. Software/tools: Excel/Google Sheets, BLAST, SnapGene

Salary: 13000-1100-32800 (as per the approved institute/ANRF norms)
