Applications are invited for two positions of Project Technician for the Workshop Facility of the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur. The position will be purely contractual/project mode in nature.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing day-to-day activities of the Electrical Engineering Workshop
- Operating and maintaining conventional workshop machines such as lathe, milling, drilling, grinding, and cutting machines
- Supporting machining, fitting, mechanical fabrication, assembly, tool preparation, and minor repairs
- Assisting students, project staff, and faculty in the safe use of workshop facilities and equipment
- Maintaining inventory, stock and issue/return records, maintenance logs, consumables, housekeeping, and workshop safety
Minimum Academic Qualification and Experience
3-year Engineering Diploma with 4 years of relevant experience
Or
High School with ITI and 9 years of relevant experience
Desirable Experience
- Hands-on experience in operating conventional lathe, milling, drilling, grinding, and cutting machines, and other mechanical workshop equipment
- Experience in machining, fitting, fabrication, and assembly, including the use of hand/power tools and measuring instruments such as vernier calipers and micrometers
- Experience in routine machine inspection, fault diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and safe operating procedures
- Record keeping and basic computer skills: MS Excel/Google Sheets
Pay Scale (SR-2): 18000-1500-45000 (as per Institute norms)
