Applications are invited for the following position under the project entitled “Development of pressurized dual fluidized bed gasifier for high ash Indian coal” undertaken in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, and funded by MHRD and Ministry of Coal, under IMPRINT initiative. The post is purely temporary and on contractual basis. The required qualifications, experience and conditions are described below:

Nature of work	The incumbent is expected to work at the leading role along with other Doctoral and Masters students in an end-to-end study on Development of Dual Fluidized bed gasifier. The work may involve characterization of coal and biomass, measuring reaction kinetics, cold flow studies, process design of gasifier and gas cleaning systems under atmospheric and high-pressure conditions, performing experiments and modeling, and development of a working prototype of the gasification system.
Minimum Qualification	Ph. D or M. Tech. + 4 years experience with Mechanical/Chemical Engineering background
Desired Qualifications	PhD with strong expertise on coal/biomass gasification experiments and/or modeling. Publications in reputed journals and/or patent. Experience on process modeling with software tools like Aspen Plus, and other CFD software. Experience on coal/biomass characterization and measurement of reaction kinetics.
Salary Range	Rs. 27000-2700-54000 per month based on qualification
Duration of appointment	1 Year. Contract may be extended based on performance and availability of funding.
