Applications are invited for Project Post-Doctoral Fellow under the project entitled “Accelerated Development of Next Generation High Strength High Performance Steel” at IIT Kanpur.

Salary Range: [60,000-5,000-85,200]
Essential Qualification: PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or any related branch.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience in induction furnace experiments.
- Experience with casting processes.
- Strong foundation in Transport Phenomena (Fluid flow, Heat and Mass transfer)
- Basic understanding of Thermodynamics of Materials and Kinetics of Processes
Nature of work: The successful candidate is expected to perform the following tasks:
- Independently perform melting experiments in laboratory-scale induction furnace.
- Collect data on temperature profiles during melting experiments.
- Characterize samples using microscopic techniques
- In addition to the above, the candidate may have to perform additional tasks as assigned by the project investigators.
Term of Appointment:
- The appointment is purely contractual, and duration of contract is initially for one year, which may be extendible further depending upon satisfactory performance OR till the end of project whichever is earlier.
- Salary: Rs. 60,000 per month + 20 % HRA.
- Other facilities will be as per the rules of IIT Kanpur.
