Applications are invited for two positions as Project Assistants, for a year in project titled "Development of geoid augmented high-resolution DEM and its impact assessment for landslide susceptibility mapping" at IIT Kanpur. A description of this position is given below:

Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree in science (BSc/ BS)

Desirable Qualifications & Skills

  • Prior experience or willingness to undertake field surveys (GNSS surveys, gravity measurements, and topographic data collection).
  • Basic familiarity with GNSS receivers, relative gravimeters (e.g., CG-6), and other surveying instruments.
  • Good physical fitness and readiness to travel extensively to hilly/mountainous terrain for data collection and field campaigns.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, spreadsheet management, and data organization).

Nature of Work / Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting GNSS-levelling surveys, absolute/relative gravity surveys, and supporting field data acquisition campaigns in rugged/mountainous terrain.
  • Travel extensively to project sites and field stations as required for primary data collection and ground truthing.
  • Perform initial data compilation, preliminary quality checks, sorting, and management of collected datasets.
  • Assist the research team in coordinating field logistics, maintaining field equipment, and organizing spatial datasets for DEM validation and landslide susceptibility mapping.

Number of positions: Two

Term of appointment: The initial appointment will be for one year and may be extended based on performance.

Salary: 20,000+20% HRA

Other Facilities: The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a conducive environment and may be eligible for suitable accommodation at IIT Kanpur, subject to availability. Outpatient department (OPD) services will be available for the candidate at the Health Centre of IIT Kanpur.
