Deputy Project Manager in Space Technology Cell, IIT Kanpur

The Space Technology Cell (STC) at IIT Kanpur, sponsored by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), invites applications for the position of Deputy Project Manager on project mode to support the strategic and operational functions of the Cell.

The Space Technology Cell at IIT Kanpur serves as a dedicated platform for fostering collaborative research between IITK faculty and ISRO on cutting-edge areas of space science and technology. More details about the Cell can be found at https://www.iitk.ac.in/stc

Position Details

  • Post: Deputy Project Manager
  • Number of Positions: 01
  • Duration: Initially for one year, extendable based on performance
  • Salary Range: 23000-2000-59000 INR per month (based on qualification and experience)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate research and administrative activities of the Space Technology Cell
  • Liaise with faculty Principal Investigators (PIs), ISRO representatives, and Institute administration
  • Support project management across multiple research projects under the Cell
  • Prepare periodic reports, proposals, presentations, and documentation for ISRO and IITK
  • Manage project accounts, budgets, and compliance documentation
  • Organize review meetings, workshops, and technical visits
  • Maintain and update the STC website and communication portals
  • Provide assistance in strategic planning and outreach initiatives

Essential Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Science/Engineering/Management with at least 5 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and document management
  • Demonstrated ability in coordination, report writing, and independent handling of administrative responsibilities

Desirable Qualifications

  • Prior experience in project management in academic/research/government organizations
  • Familiarity with government funding processes and research documentation
  • Exposure to science/technology policy or space-related domains
  • Knowledge of basic accounting or finance management tools
