Case Studies

Case studies come under national and international collaboration (Home – Research)

  • The Indo-German research grant in the field of microwave and mm-wave material processing

  • Indo-Japan research grant on Electromagnetic simulation and optimization of outer rotor surface permanent magnet synchronous motor.

  • Indo-UK project on Next Generation Networks Systems & Services supported by EPSRC-DST

  • UKIERI standard research proposal on Innovations in Intelligent Assistive Robotics

  • Indo-Japan research grant on Design and Control of Exoskeleton Devices

  • BITCOE - BSNL-IITK Telecom Centre of Excellence

  • Digital Mandi for the Indian Kisan: Developed an application for making the price of agro commodities easily accessible to the Indian farmer on his mobile phone. It was launched by the Minister of Communications for the farmers of Haryana and Punjab.

  • Developed a lab prototype of a dc power supply that can work without any manual intervention even if one or two phases of the 3-phase input supply get disrupted. Further, the power supply can work over a wide variation of input voltage: from 90 V (single phase) to 480 V (three phase). This has applications in rural telecom infrastructure, both landline as well as mobile, apart from other sectors such as Railways. We are in talk with several possible vendors including ITI, Bangalore for launching this power supply in the Indian market

  • For satisfactory growth and performance of internet infrastructure in the country, all operators in India are required to make a quick and smooth transition to IPv6 from the current IPv4 protocol. We are actively helping Tata Teleservices and BSNL in this transition. Recently Tata Teleservices was able to launch dual stack IPv6 capability for its leased line customers with our help

  • Industry Linkage with The Boeing Company, USA

    • Topic: Passive and Active RFID and Location Technology Research

    • Fifth year in progress

    • Major Activities include

      • Design of hardware and software modules for RFID systems,

      • Performance analysis and evaluation of RFID systems

      • Condition based monitoring of rotating machines

      • Study the effect of the environment on the performance of the tag

      • Demonstrate that by appropriate choice of material and dimensions, it is possible to enhance the performance of the tag, even when the tag is hidden from the reader antenna

      • This idea has been extended to cylindrical objects, which could be used in machine tooling applications

      • Design of Anechoic chamber

      • Measurements being carried out in the Anechoic Chamber for performance analysis

      • Industry Linkage with GE Global Research on Modular Power Converters for Wind-Solar Plant

      • Transformer less design for use with both wind and solar power plant

      • Single stage conversion very high gain, transformer-less topology

      • Industry Linkage with GE Global Research on Wireless Power Transfer

        • Design and Demonstration of Wireless Power transfer (WPT) at low frequency with low resonator size.

        • Development of Analytical Model for WPT

        • Analytical Model should predict the efficiency of a system for given resonator specifications and distance between the transmitter and receiver.

        • Analytical Model also helps to design the resonator for given operating frequency, distance and efficiency

Miscellaneous Comments on the page:

  • Annual reports should be linked form the Institute website and each department need not host the annual report individually.

  • The books written by faculty – at least the one written in the last five years could be captured as image and added in image library. And should be highlighted somewhere.
