Need Statement :

To substitute for a simple lock having many duplicate keys in a multi-user lab or facility

Features of our Digitized Lock

It is designed as an attachment to an existing lock. We have incorporated a user friendly login system. The nominated super user who has control over the lock has the ability to add or remove a user. The user is given the facility to change his password as he desires. The key pad used is an every day widely used telephone keypad. The time is continuously shown on the digital display. If desired the lock can be optionally opened by the master key to the lock. The user within the facility need not unlock the lock through the normal login procedure, he/she can simply use the knob provided on the lock.

Conclusion

We designed this project with the industry and consumer in mind. We hope that the circuit that we have provided can actually be used as a reference board for industrial production. Our project is of immense use in IIT Kanpur itself, we designed it with our institute in mind. With slight modifications to the board one can even provide a PC interface to accommodate logging of users who enter the facility by date and time. When we were starting the project we were very ambitious and were planning to implement various other features like a PC interface and additional RAM to accommodate a large] number- of users, however because of academic and time constraints we were not able to implement this.

OBJECTIVE:

Our project aims at making a special kind of brick which imparts a decorative fervor apart from serving its usual purpose. Building a wall through such bricks would simply involve joining them by means of mortar.

We have developed these bricks by preheated the bricks, coating them with epoxy powder, followed by firing or curing. apart from being decorative, these bricks have several other advantages.

CONCLUSION :

We made inexpensive epoxy powder coated Decorative Brick which can be used for decoration of building, offices, home etc. Our Decorative Brick is durable, stain free and washable. We can make repetitive design of Decorative Brick. Decorative Brick's coated face is nonstick to ordinary mortar. We can use different shade, color and design for variety or demand by user. Water absorption test gave positive results so there is no risk in using the Decorative Bricks. Mass scale production of Decorative Bricks would cost less.
