OBJECTIVE

Our objective was to design an inexpensive, small - sized, good ,

looking and a non - toxic device to trap and kill houseflies. The

two features that were essentially desired were:

(1) Ease of use - Its operation should be based on extremely simple principles.

(2) It should be environment friendly and should not Pose any health hazards.

CENTRAL IDEA

It is an environmentally friendly and decidedly low - tech, but nevertheless effective method of controlling, and ultimately annihilating flies: a reliable method that can be used at picnics, barbecues or other indoor and outdoor meals. It is an adaptation of the traditional British practice of trapping flying insects by luring them into a jar filled with sweetened water. the flies are lured into a container filled with some bait. Once inside, they cannot come out. They collide and ricochet from the walls and eventually get tired and drown. It utilizes the following basic ideas:

It is based on 'black - body' concept.

Flies are attracted towards sweet items.

They cannot take off vertically.
