INTRODUCTION

"Smartheat " is an automatic heater that is equipped with a heat sensor (thermistor) which switches the heater on and off according to the ambience temperature. It has been designed taking into consideration peak winters of north India where temperatures go as low as 00 C.

Whenever the room temperature exceeds a certain set limit that is variable through a knob, Smartheat smartly switches it off without disturbing anyone. Smartheat is not only a temperature regulating system which makes life more comfortable but it also reduces the electricity expenses by automatically switching the heater off. One more advantage of Smartheat is that it enhances the safety of the user as it requires less handling

Conclusion:

(1) The automatic heater is working successfully. We did not calibrate it because it will be function of room temperature and hence is of no use.

(2) One drawback that we have observed in the working of Smartheat is that it fluctuates at the time of transition temperature (temperature at which it switches on/off). This drawback can be removed by using a hysterics circuit so that it switches off at a particular temperature which is slightly more than at which it switches on.

(3) For more accurate working more than one thermistor can be used which can be placed strategically and input signals from all of them can be used to trigger the relay.
