The
predominance of knowledge / intellectual capital in wealth Creation,
from countries to individuals in a global economy has assumed
prominence in the past few years. As we write this it would
not be surprising if a
nations wealth/productivity indicators are linked to it's intellectual
capital rather than its GDP. The life cycle of intellectual
property goes through various stages from identification to
utilization with emphasis on documentation and management of
the same.
Given the above, protection and management of IPRs not only
assumes critical importance but enhances motivation to develop
and disseminate scientific and technological innovations. At
the institution/firm level intellectual capital is the foundation
for ensuring market dominance and licensing the same is one
of the key drivers in the growth of these firms.
This conference creates and facilitates a stimulating environment
for the development and exchange of ideas in the management
of IPR with special emphasis on emerging economies problems
given a dynamic global environment. The conference aims at linking
creation and protection of knowledge capital to improvement
in the quality of life in the Indian context. The themes chosen
focus on broad areas intended to cover the whole spectrum of
issues related to knowledge capital in diverse areas. Economy
stresses the need for research, education and advocacy on IPRs
to enhance standards of living. |
