ABOUT WORKSHOP

Robotics and AI have grown in parallel while complementing each other. This workshop at IITK on Robotics and autonomy would focus on naturalization of human intelligence making robots mimic humans in complex tasks such as warehouse automation, precision agriculture, and assisted living. Sensor based robotics such as manipulators, mobile manipulators, land rovers and drones are being integrated with innovative AI modules to make them smart and user friendly. Industry 4.0 also will be driven by two basic technologies: AI and robotics - and especially the combination of both - allowing robots to learn skills and tasks without explicitly programming them. Learning and optimizing complex and interactive robot manipulation skills through reinforcement learning algorithms is a multifaceted challenge and an unsolved problem. With the goals of (i) significantly reducing robot programming costs and (ii) reducing robot cycle times, transfer learning, reinforcement learning algorithms and other customized AI based algorithms will be covered in this workshop.

Some of the example topics are as follows:

  • Computational Intelligence Based Warehouse Automation from sorting, packaging to air-delivery.
    • Reinforcement learning based motor skill learning to achieve higher kinematic control
    • Deep network based visual perception for objects used in warehouse with scalability
    • Reinforcement learning based visual grasping
    • Human Robot Interaction
    • CI driven condition based monitoring systems
  • Coordination control of multi-robot systems involving heterogeneous platforms – drones, land rovers and mobile manipulators.
    • Event triggered control of robotic systems in cyber physical framework using adaptive critic framework
    • Customized robotic platforms for agricultural harvesting.
    • Drone based identification of disease spread in agriculture crops
    • Reliable Image and Video transmission for drone based wireless communication
    • Brain wave controlled smart wheel chair

Researchers will brainstorm in this workshop about the next level of innovation in Robotics and Autonomy in the context of academic and professional collaboration between India and UK. The workshop will consist of key note and invited talks, panel discussions and poster sessions.

POSTER PRESENTATION

about img

An important feature of this workshop is to allow participants to showcase their talents in Robotics and Autonomy in the form of a poster. Students, faculty members and industrial professionls are invited to submit short abstracts of their research works. Please note that your work must pertain to the development of innovative robotics applications in terms of hardware, sodftware or both that will have significant societal impacts. Partcipants whose abstracts are selected will be invited to present their works in the form of posters as well as experimental demonstration.

BENEFITS:

  • Prize money of Rs 10000/-, 8000/- and 6000/- top 3 posters and demo presentation
  • Participation certificate to all the participants
  • Expert advice and feedbacks on the research work presented
