Applications are invited for temporary or contractual post of Sr. Project Engineer for the project entitled “Characterization and Modeling of Membranes for Inflatable Space Structures” at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Kanpur funded by ISRO.

Minimum Qualification: B.Tech + M.Tech + Ph.D. (Engineering Stream) or M.Tech + 3 years relevant experience or B.Tech with M.B.A + 3 years relevant experience.

Desirable Qualification: Ph.D in Aerospace Engineering with Structures as specialization

Essential Experience: Good knowledge of theory and working of digital image correlation technique, structural dynamic testing of light and flexible structures, characterization and modeling of polymeric materials, development of CNT-polymer based nanocomposites, RT-FPGA based real-time synchronization and data acquisition. Experience in working on Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA), Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Vibration Shakers, Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC), Ultrasonicator, Magnetic Stirring, and Thinky Mixer. 

Desirable Experience: MATLAB programming for developing in-house digital image correlation codes, LabVIEW programming for synchronization and data acquisition, finite element analysis for performing design and dynamic analysis of membranous structures. Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as SolidWorks, Autodesk 3ds Max. Experience with mentoring graduate students.

Salary Range: Rs. 32400-2700-81000 /- per month

Duration of appointment: 1 year or till the end of project, whichever is earlier
