Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the project titled, Studies on the non-linear mechanics of bi-stable composite shells and development of a generalized semi-analytical model using Pb2 Rayleigh-Ritz framework for assessing their usages in civil infrastructure as energy harvester or absorber funded by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India.
Number of posts: 1
Minimum qualifications: M.Tech in Civil/Aerospace/Marine Engineering with specialization in structures selected through GATE, and B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
Desirable qualifications:
- Good knowledge of mechanics of plates and shells, finite element analysis
- Working knowledge in finite element programming
- Decent communication skills
About this project: Smart applications can be envisaged by harnessing the bi/multi-stability of composite shell structures. Therefore, understanding the non-linear static and dynamic responses of the composite shells is essential to designing energy harvesters or absorbers. This project aims to study the static and dynamic response of composite shells and develop a semi-analytical model for assessing the usages of bi/multi-stable shell structures for smart applications.
Job responsibilities: The selected candidate will be involved in the project related works that are developing semi-analytical models for bi-stable composite shells along with their fabrication, experimental characterization etc.
Salary: Rs. 31,000/- pm (Consolidated)
How to apply: Interested candidates are requested to send an email at amarrc@iitk.ac.in, with subject line clearly stating "JRF for SERB project" along with the pdf copies of the following documents
- Detailed resume
- Degree certificates with academic transcripts (not mandatory)
- Qualifications and experience
Last date of receiving application: 30-03-2022
Selection process: Eligible candidates satisfying the minimum qualification requirements will be shortlisted based on the criteria set by the selection committee approved by IIT Kanpur. Shortlisted candidates will be informed through email about the date of the interview (preferably online). Candidates appearing for the interview must present copies of the degree certificates and academic transcripts that will be verified before the interview.
