Applications are invited for one position of Project Executive Officer for one year (extendable based on performance) in the DST-sponsored project titled "Map Generalization – Modelling and Automatic Derivation of Multiple Representations of Geographical Features for Multiscale Mapping" at the National Centre for Geodesy / Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Kanpur.

Minimum qualification:

  • Ph.D.* (Geoinformatics / Civil / Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics) + 1 year of relevant experience

    • Or

    M.Tech (Geoinformatics / Civil / Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics) + 6 years of relevant experience

    *duration in Ph.D. degree, after three years will be considered as research experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience in software project management
  • Good understanding of Cartography, GIS, and Topographic Mapping
  • Experience in GIS programming, QGIS software, and PostgreSQL + PostGIS
  • Proficient in Python and Java programming languages
  • Basic understanding of Unified Modelling Language (UML) and GitHub
  • Basic knowledge of coordinate geometry and vector algebra
  • Experience in coordinating large teams

Nature of the work:

  • Planning, executing, monitoring, and deploying a map generalization module
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to other team members
  • Contributing to the design, development, and implementation of map generalization algorithms
  • Developing QGIS toolbox for generalizing geographical features
  • Facilitating overall project requirements

Number of positions: One

Term of appointment: The initial appointment will be for one year and may be extended based on performance.

Salary: Rs. 79,800 + 18% HRA
