Applications are invited for the position of a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Quantum Photonics Research Laboratory of Dr. Shilpi Gupta at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. The research will be carried under the project “Quantum memory based on a Mn-doped semiconductor quantum dot” funded by the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA).

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) (1 position)

Salary: Rs. 31000 per month + HRA as per institute norms

Essential Qualification:

Post Graduate Degree specializing in Physics OR Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course specializing in Engineering Physics/Applied Optics/Optoelectronics, selected through a process described through any of the following:

a. Scholar who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC-NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.

b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.

Desired Qualifications:

Solid theoretical background in quantum mechanics
Good background in solid-state physics, electrodynamics, and optics
Fluency with Python or MATLAB software
Experience with FDTD simulations
