Position Description:

This proposal aims to employ experimental and numerical techniques to develop laboratory-scale supercavitating vehicles that are aerodynamically and hydro-dynamically stable while translating in water. Such a model vehicle will have a supercavitating nose that will generate a cavitation bubble of sufficient size to encompass the torpedo for hydrodynamic drag reduction and will subsequently maintain a speed close to that of the launch speed during the entire course of action.

This is a full-time appointment, and the successful candidate will receive a salary of ₹50,000. The initial appointment will be for 1 year and can be extended for another 2 years subjected to satisfactory performance. There will be an increment in the salary in the 2nd and 3rd year.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree, preferably in Mechanical or Production Engineering. Additional skills required for this position include good experience of developing experimental setups, measurement techniques such as handling high speed cameras and PIV. Knowledge of C++ and executing programs on OpenFOAM is highly desirable.
