Applications are invited for the following temporary position to work at the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Kanpur.The work involves performing experiments, testing (including data analysis) on constructional materials and structures/components in the laboratory as well as outstation field testing.

1. Minimum qualification: B.Tech. in Civil Engineering
2. Salary Range: Rs.10,000-1,000-20,000

Duration of Appointment: Initially for a period of six months

Desirables:

The candidate is expected to be involved in extensive sample collection at site, perform experiments in the laboratory, collect and make documentation in the office and prepare a formal presentation (if required). The following are the desirable skills expected:

1. Knowledge about the Indian and ASTM test standard codes of practice related to cement, aggregates and concrete testing
2. Knowledge about the use of non-destructive test methods such as ground penetrating radar, ultra-sonic pulse velocity, rebound hammer, masonry prism test, flat-jack test and other test methods
3. Should have sound knowledge on different Civil Engineering Materials used for different application
4. Skills in MS Office applications and others for analysis of test data
5. Candidate should be capable of lifting weights of at least 10 to 15 kgs for some distance during sample extraction at site

NOTE: The position is purely TEMPORARY and will carry other benefits as may be applicable under IIT Kanpur norms. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the test/interview.
